With Buchla’s blessing, the esteemed engineers at Tiptop Audio have worked tirelessly to meticulously and faithfully bring the vaunted voltage of premiere West Coast synthesis to the world of Eurorack. Adapted from Buchla’s iconic 292 module of the 1970s, the 292t re-creates the magic of the Quad Lopass Gate in a 16HP Eurorack module. The 292t comprises four independently operating amplifiers, which can all be voltage controlled across a gain range of -120dB to 3dB. Each input features an offset adjustment, accompanied by a 3-state switch, providing straight gate (VCA), lowpass filter (VCF), and combination modes. In the case of the latter option, the spectral response varies as the gain changes. At Sweetwater, we’ve found that the capacity for frequency domain gating is one of the strongest attributes of the 292t, giving you the opportunity to imbue your sound with a dynamic variance in tonal texture and produce richer overtones as the gain values increase.
